Banks not among cheapest

WITH the Reserve Bank expected to start cutting rates on Tuesday, the pressure is on the major banks to follow suit.
But even if Westpac and the Commonwealth follow the NAB and ANZ and agree to pass on the expected cut of 0.25 per cent to struggling home buyers and owners, they will still be well off the pace when it comes to offering the cheapest mortgages.
According to ratings agency Cannex, not one of the 10 cheapest mortgages available to Victorians is offered by a bank.
