Loan to value ratio

Part of the process in determining how much a lender will lend you is the Loan to Value Ratio or LVR. This is worked out using the following formula.

Loan amount / property value = %

For example, a loan amount of $300,000 against that security property value of $400,000 would be a 75% VR.

Mortgage Insurers also use LVR to assess whether Lenders Mortgage Insurance applies ro a loan.
